The Stars and Stripes Foundation is the brainchild of Dan Reeves of Hip Shot Productions and Mark Christianson, U.S. Army Special Forces, Retired, who came together a few years ago to assist with a charity shooting event, in Las Vegas, featuring some of Hollywood's most notable actors.
Dan drew on his experience and pulled together a cadre of firearms instructors to assist with the firearms safety training for the famous participants, while in preparation for the event, Mark organized a cadre of professional, active duty military service men and women, to provide for range safety.
Inspired by this event, Dan and Mark co-founded the, "Stars and Stripes Foundation," and planning was soon underway for the first, "Stars and Stripes" shoot benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. The concept is simple. The "Stars" represent celebrated movie, TV, sports and musical professionals from all over the world, and the "Stripes" represent all uniformed military personnel, past and present.
As the idea took shape, Dan and Mark placed a call to action to those who made the Las Vegas event a safe, fun and enjoyable shooting experience. Dan and Mark then focused their attention on hosting a sporting clays and handgun competition, uniting their famous friends with those in the shooting community. Their purpose is to provide fun and enjoyable shooting events to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, while promoting the safe sport of shooting.
Initially, the Wounded Warrior Project came to the fore front as the most worthy of the foundation's support, and the team recognized the need to incorporate as a public benefit nonprofit 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization, ensuring all funds raised by the Stars and Stripes Foundation, would not become taxable income. By creating a non-profit corporation, this allows the greatest flexibility to support other worthy groups.
